Our first day as the mama and papa
October 5, 2008 # 10:49 pm # Family # No CommentA wonderful wonderful day!
Playing with our daughters…little voices practicing words in English…little mighty hands throwing a ball so far that we think we might have a future solution for the whitesox bullpen if they can get over that whole “throws like a girl” myth…trying on little crocs on tiny feet (which lead to spending our lunch break picking out snazzy fur lined boots for zhanna since her crocs were a bit snug) …prying crayon out of Elena’s mouth for the fifth time…having the girls hapily test out the portable potty (thanks Tony!), being the private audience to the nursery rhyme dance telling the story of an old woman who lost her two geese, then joyfully found them-starring Zhanna as one of the two geese…drying Elena’s tears and learning that we can comfort her when she melted down at the end of the show…ALL OF IT!!!! Because they are ours! All ours!!!
Mckinley clan also had a terrific day with their boys—and so now we’re all just basking in the glow of our first actual full day of parenthood and resting up before we reward ourselves with rounds of ‘nasdarovya’-filled vodka sampling.
Tomorrow we pick up the girls’ new Russian Passports, and get to spend one last afternoon at the baby home.
