Chita… Chita….Chita

What a whirlwind of a day! We awoke in moscow Wednesday morn and ventured into the gray skies towards the mall. Some walking, some shopping, some caffiene, then back to hotel for late checkout, $8 cokes with complimentary second-hand thick cigar smoke, then out into the bumper-car experience that is moscow rush hour traffic. Our flight from Moscow brought us into the cold gray climes of Chita airport at 8:30am local time. The flight was long, the plane was hot and the seats cramped and we honestly couldn’t have cared less. We made it!

The airport’s mascot cat greeted us just like last time and then Katia came to whisk us directly to the baby home.

Sandy and Sean’s children came in first with the Mayor smiling and shrugging his way into the room. Owen is walking so much more confidently and both boys knew their Mama and Papa right away.

They brought our girls into the room wearing the little tennis dresses we gave them during the last trip with matching hair bows of course—very sweet of the caregivers to think to do this.

Our reunion started off with a bit of little shy girls coming to us but reserving the giggles and ball throwing until after we broke out the lorna dune short bread cookies. ;)

All the little chicken pox marks have faded away, little faces are bright and shiny and Elena has two new tiny teeth in her mouth! And a big bite-shaped bruise on her arm—-apparently another child in her group also has new teeth and wanted to test them out.

We’re back in the apartment resting and getting ready for our court apperance tomorrow morning—tea and choco-pies, yum!. We’ll know tomorrow afternoon after court if we’ll have the ten day wait waived. Keep your fingers crossed!

Pantry Check – 12/10/09

We're full on into winter here in Chicago - slushy snow falls from the sky at this very moment. This big OLD house has a bit of the drafty to it, the 115 year old radiators are chugging away (cherubs and scroll work are nice and hot to the touch) but it always help to crank up the ten burner stove and the two ovens when ever there is a good opportunity.

Check the post "Saturday Soup Day" for the four recipes and roasted Chicken that kept our house warm and toasty for the day and is keeping our tummies warm and toasty all week long with meals a plenty.
