Chita Chillin

Sunday today, mostly sunny, but the sun comes up late, stays low, then departs early—throws the bodyclock off….that, and the waiting. For what? Well tho the adoption happened on Friday, the kids are all still staying at the orphanage, and we can’t see them on the weekend—no visiting during weekends. That means we’re all trying to kill time and be somewhat productive during this very last weekend of being Just Us Grownups. Yesterday I read a whole actual book, knocked about the city on foot with sean for a while whilst the womenfolk hemmed and hawed about the travel-day attire for the kids, and today sean and sandy are out while bobbi naps and I prep the travel potty and brush up on my Russian. I think I blog for all of when I say the weekend simply cannot be over quickly enough–we want to hold our….OUR children! It’s just an amazing thing, and we can’t wait to settle in with our new families.

The weekend without anything to do in Chita was torture! I remember it vividly. We couldn’t wait until Monday because that was Mason’s birthday and we couldn’t wait to tell him he was officially ours. I am so happy for you two! I really hope we can get our kids together sometime once you are settled in!

Pantry Check – 12/10/09

We're full on into winter here in Chicago - slushy snow falls from the sky at this very moment. This big OLD house has a bit of the drafty to it, the 115 year old radiators are chugging away (cherubs and scroll work are nice and hot to the touch) but it always help to crank up the ten burner stove and the two ovens when ever there is a good opportunity.

Check the post "Saturday Soup Day" for the four recipes and roasted Chicken that kept our house warm and toasty for the day and is keeping our tummies warm and toasty all week long with meals a plenty.
