Nesting much?

16 days until we fly out to Moscow. It’s raining cats and dogs here in Chicago, so the combination of being stuck indoors and what I can only describe as some sort of nesting instinct has led to a case of house scrubbing the likes of which this big home has never seen.

As I crawled around scrubbing base boards and finished moving all the wine bottles to a higher (above toddler height) set of shelves, it finally sunk in that when we come back at the end of this upcoming trip our daughters will be with us… Suddenly the days I’ve been complaining about taking too long to pass by don’t seem like enough time to be ready.

I suppose “ready” is a pretty silly thought. How on earth do you get ready for such an amazing life change? I think I’ll just go back to cleaning and set a goal for being mostly prepared and leave the rest to work itself out.
