How many days to xmas

Remember that feeling of nervous energy mixed with excitement that you used to feel the week before Xmas? You know, when you kept checking the calendar and wishing time to move faster?

That is where we are now. In the grand scheme of things waiting one more month to go back to Siberia to finish the adoption process and bring our scrumptious girls home is a tiny bit of time. But, man it sure feels like the days are crawling by. We can’t cross the days off our calendar fast enough.

We’ve been keeping busy. This week I spent a whole morning putting together a teeny tiny play kitchen for the girls (well, we are playing with it, but getting to share their toys is part of the deal right?). The Russian phrase book is sitting on our desks, wouldn’t it be great if learning by osmosis really worked?

We are watching the temp in Chita start to slide down into the 50s duying the day and 40s at night. Guess we ought to start shopping for some teeny tiny long johns. We saw some at Patagonia, but even in our stupor we know better than spending $80 for a single outfit the girls will outgrow in seconds.

We miss the girls…Xmas in October can’t come soon enough.

I can picture you both playing with the kitchen !- while I’m working on Winnie the Pooh I’m making for them I’m having so much fun playing with it myself – anticipating the arrival of granddaughters I’ve found a new/rekindled enjoyment of dolls and even making some “toys” for myself.
