Big ol’ nyet airliner…
August 10, 2008 # 12:08 pm # Family # No CommentOk actually it is a big ol’ jet airliner to Chita, about which we are very psyched. Vim Airlines. And—announcements in English and in russian, which rules. After a lazy day in Moscow, spent reconning the big mall near the hotel (basically a Dallas-grade Galleria type thing), then dozing during War and Olympics coverage, and avoiding the $13-per-piece sushi in the hotel, it was off to the airport. Another brief stop next to the Moscow river to receive our package from Olga–plane tix, rubles (we hope), and more documents to mule, then into the maw of the airport. Checking in with Ina’s help was a breeze, then it was brief, loud wait in the terminal before bussing it to the plane (a Boeing 757—-yay). Now we await our meal while the little boy directly behind Bobbi practices his tap dance moves on her seatback.
Later, that same flight….
It’s 1:30a Moscow time and we’re watching the fireball sun rise over what must by now be eastern Siberia. We estimate another 1.5 hours in the air, and anticipation us running WAY high, especially amongst the mommy-folk. Bout 90 minutes ago it was pitch black outside, except for four very bright fires—my theory is natural gas burnoff fires in the oilfields of western Siberia. So, Leanne was right, the dinner was quite substantial (I took the flight attendants suggeston and went for the fish, over the pork…and she was correct, it was a better choice, though bony at the end). Sean observed another positive food thing about this flight–kids meals! And apple juice. And lavatories big enough to change a diaper in (sorry….in which to change a diaper).
Went thru some major turbulance a while back—i wonder how the kids will like that, on their first-ever plane ride? I’ll have to come up with The BumpityBump song for that bit of fun. Out the window now are many big bendy rivers—like, majorly large. Time to chill on the blogging and bone up on the Russian, so dasvidanya for now.
