Home repairs…probably best done BEFORE the kids arrive

We mentioned in our last post that one of the things we are doing while we wait for all that paper to get stamped and signed and certified and sealed and translated is some minor home projects. Well, we thought they’d be minor projects…

Now that the Wee Kahunas’ bedroom construction is finished we were mostly thinking of things like baby gates, and those clicky lock things that make it so that parents can’t get into kitchen cabinets and have to ask their toddlers to open the doors for them…you know stuff like that. But mother nature perked up a bit and poured some rain on our 113 year old house…and well, several inches of it came inside through a leak in the music room on the third floor. Ok, fair enough…we knew when we bought the house that eventually we would need to do this…it was obviously just a pipe dream that the timing wouldn’t coincide with any other major expenses… Ha

The silver lining/glass half full view of this is of course that at least we can get it done and have the house back to normal BEFORE we come home with the children. Can you imagine the confusion if we brought them home and then had dozens of men crawling about the place ripping the roof off and making all of that crazy noise and dust?! Egads…

So, the parent, I mean child locks will have to wait a bit… maybe that’s a good thing, until the kids get here we want to be able to get to the cookies in the pantry..

best wishes to you all!
