Construction Junction…What’s your function?

The Wee Kahunas room is finished…magic men, made of dirt, came to the house while we were working abroad. They moved walls, rebuilt a closet, installed new wood floors, replaced a window that wouldn’t budge, painted the whole room and installed a ceiling fan that looks like a honey pot for Winnie the Pooh. Not an insignificant amount of work in a house that is over 110 years old.

We couldn’t be more grateful to both Judith and my mom, for taking their turns staying at the house with the dogs and cats amist the construction dust and noise.

We’ve just submitted the third round of paperwork to the Home Study agency and the Adoption Agency…primarily notarized copies of things we had already submitted, but they also required photos of the house, and the two of us, along with an odd assorment of proofs of things. Prove that you own your home, prove that you have a job, prove that the business you own actually makes the money it costs to live in your home…you get the idea.

So, all of that is submitted along with the fancy biometrics capture (sadly no eyeball prints…) just a digital version of our fingerprints to go along with the yucky black ink ones we have already submitted to the Feds and State for background checks. Now? Now we wait.

The Home study draft should be sent to us very soon for a final review before they get it all stamped with official seals and ceiling wax or whatever they use to make it worthy of translating and then forwarding to Russia along with our additional documentation.

We really don’t know how long the approval from US Immigration will take, it could be just a couple of weeks, or if the chicago offices have a huge backlog it could be months. Until that document comes we wait. Once it does, all of the paperwork get’s sent in so that we can be added to the list of couples asking for children to be reffered to them.

Meanwhile, Bobbi found a way to transfer all of the old School House Rock! episodes from her itunes account to the Apple TV in our living room….so we are ready to relive our own childhoods as we watch the fabulous “I’m just a bill” and “Conjuction Junction” and of course, her favorite…”Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla” If none of those titles ring a bell with you, then we feel your childhood was lacking and we strongly suggest you come over to our place with a bag of popcorn and get ready to smile.

best wishes to you all!
